Dear Student,

Basic Brushes:
To get started, you will need to buy script brushes numbers 1 and 2, and

1/4 inch wide brush and 1/2 inch brush, 3/4 inch brush, 1 inch and 1 1/2 inch-wide brushes.

Acrylic paints [not oil or watercolor].

Get these colors: Basics red, blue, yellow, black, & white

These will be needed later as you develop your work:

Cadmium Red, light
Alizarin Crimson
Cadmium Yellow, light & medium
Ultramarine Blue
Cerulean Blue
Burnt Umber
Ivory Black
Titanium White
Burnt Sienna

You will need:

Canvas board or regular canvas, 11x14 and larger…..
Paper towels
Container for water [anything that will hold about two cups of water]
Natural sponge
Small, spray bottle to spray on paint occasionally, to keep moist.
Palette knife
Disposable palette pad
Table easel or a simple easel that stands on the floor.
Drawing pad, 9x12 in. size.
Couple of drawing pencils.
Kneaded eraser

Bring a picture of what you want to paint.
